Abstract

The article offers analysis of foreign policy concepts of contemporary Russian liberals of both the left (the “Yabloko” party) and the right (the “Democratic Choice of Russia”, the Right Forces Union) trends. By way of considering the evolution of the “Yabloko”’s foreign policy orientations, the author retraces the “Yabloko” adherents’ evolutions: having begun with discussing problems of civilizational identity and after wandering for some time in the labyrinths of patriotic constructions, they returned to the westernist perspective, traditional for Russian liberals. Special attention is given in the article to the views of the Right Forces Union’s leaders, in particular to discussing their conceptions of Russia’s “national interest” and of her “global mission”.
