Abstract

The article acquaints the Russian reader with one of the approaches popular in the West, to the study of political theory and of history of political thought – with the one worked out by Q.Skinner, a leading representative of the Cambridge school of history of notions. The author of the article examines the context of the appearance of Skinner’s “history of notions”, analyzes the methodological foundation of the research strategy chosen by the scientist, describes the mechanisms of rhetorical application and redefinition of political notions, as well as the logic of linguistic innovations.
