The book by Anne de Tinguy (The Great Migration: Russia and the Russians after the Fall of the Iron Curtain. M.: PROSSPEN: 2011. 780 p; La Grande Migration. La Russie et les Russes depuis l’ouverture du rideau de fer. Paris: Plon. 2004. 662 p.).) is devoted to the study of quality and direction of migration flows after the collapse of the Soviet Union and, more broadly, the Soviet bloc. The author explores not only the ‘near abroad ‘ but also the ‘far abroad’ as points of attraction of migration flows. The book contains a lot of facts, based not only on secondary sources, but also on the original author’s research, creating a vivid image of post-Soviet Russian society.
